Yoga Nidra, also known as Yogic Sleep, is a meditation and conscious relaxation practice to induce total mental, physical + emotional relaxation. Though similar to regular meditation, there are 3 differences:

PHYSICAL POSITION: With Yogic Sleep you are laying down vs. seated (no one wants to sleep sitting up anyways!).

ATTENTION: You must consciously place awareness on breath or mantra during seated meditation vs. following a guided meditation during Yogic Sleep; making it much easier to relax.

STATE OF CONSCIOUSNESS: You practice Yogic Sleep in the state between being awake and asleep because this is a more restful state compared to being fully conscious/awake during seated meditation.
