Happy 2025!
As you step into a brand-new year, it’s the perfect moment to reflect on 2024 and set your intentions for 2025.
And, this isn’t about vague resolutions—it’s about action! It’s about saying what you want to achieve and making it happen-booyah!
Reflecting on your 2024 health and fitness journey and progress will give you the insight needed to kick off 2025 stronger, healthier, and more focused than ever.
So, let me ask you:
- Did 2024 meet your expectations for health and fitness?
- Did you conquer fears and push past the barriers that were holding you back?
- Did you achieve some or all of your goals—or maybe feel like you didn’t have the right strategy to execute them?
- How can you prepare for even more success this year?
Let’s take a look at how you can reflect on your progress and create a strong foundation for 2025!
Measuring Your 2024 Success
Before jumping into 2025, it’s important to evaluate where you’re starting from. Whether you hit your fitness goals or not, understanding your progress and challenges will help you plan effectively for the year ahead. Here are some ways to measure your progress. Everyone’s goals and priorities are unique, so choose the methods that resonate most with you:
1. The Scale
The scale can be a tricky tool to measure success. While it’s an easy indicator, it doesn’t tell the full story. Your weight is made up of muscle, fat, water, bones, and more. It’s helpful to track, but remember it’s just one piece of the puzzle.
2. Body Composition
Unlike the scale, body composition tells you how much muscle and fat you have, which is a more accurate measure of overall health.
Regardless if your goals are linked to weight loss, fat loss, building strength, looking a certain aesthetic or fitting into clothes better, your body composition gives the data needed to understand all of the above!
As you age, muscle mass naturally decreases, especially in women. Tracking changes in your muscle mass and body fat will help you understand whether your workouts and nutrition plan are working for you.
Want a precise measure of your body composition? Schedule an InBody Scan at Results Fitness! This 90-second, non-invasive scan gives you detailed data on muscle and fat percentages.
3. Energy + Mood
Energy levels and mood are not quantifiable in the same way, but they are essential to feeling successful. If you’ve started exercising regularly, have you noticed more energy throughout your day? Are you happier and more upbeat at work or home? The right workouts can give you a positive mental boost, helping you stay motivated and energized for everything life throws at you.
4. Clothes + Confidence
How your clothes fit can be a powerful, non-scale indicator of success. Do your favorite jeans feel more comfortable? Are you donating clothes that are too big? These subtle changes signal that you’re losing fat, gaining muscle, and improving your body composition.
5. Strength + Mobility
Underrated but directly correlates with your quality of life both now and as you age. Being able to move freely and independently without pain and ease should make you wanna exercise!
No one wants to depend on others to bathe, go to the bathroom or grocery shop. Being strong and mobile are indicators you’re living and will continue living the best possible life!
As a coach, seeing RF Warriors grab weights they never thought they could or progress in an exercise that once felt impossible is my favorite part of the job!
Something as simple as increasing your depth in a squat because your knees are stronger and healthier or increasing your deadlift weight makes my heart burst! Remember, when it comes to exercising, any win is a big win!
As an RF Warrior, if you’re every curious about your progress throughout the year, ask one of us (your coaches) since we track all your exercises, progressions and weights!
Preparing for 2025 Success
If you’re ready to make 2025 your healthiest, fittest and strongest year yet, here’s how to set yourself up for success:
1. Find Your Gym Home + Family
As a coach, I recommend you take that one step further by not just joining another $10 gym but becoming part of a community where everyone knows your name, like here at Results Fitness!
While all gyms have something different to offer, do your homework first before wandering into the cheapest option. Finding a gym that has members just like you with a similar mindset and goals will be vital in making you feel warm and welcome so that you actually show up, enjoy exercising and succeed!
While looking for a gym to call home, it is also important consider the types of classes offered, as not all workouts are created ewual. Find the right type of workout that best aligns with your goals.
Example: if you want to get stronger, improve your mobility, balance or core strength, look leaner or more ‘toned’, fit into clothes better, rid the aches and pains commonly associated with knees, back and shoulders than your #1 priority = strength training workout!
And, ding, ding, ding –look no further than Small Group Personal Training right here at Results Fitness where strength training is the core focus because of its endless benefits both in/outside thegym!
3. Find a Coach Who Understands You
Like workouts, not all coaches are created equal. Find a gym with coaches who experienced and certified to help you work toward your goals safely and effectively. A great coach knows how to design workouts specifically for your needs and ensures you’re performing each movement correctly.
At Results Fitness, it’s all about YOU: personalized programs for your fitness levels PLUS 1:1 coaching so you get the guidance you personally need to suuceed!
As your coaches, we understand how to design and program workouts to safely target all muscle groups, incorporate strength aspects into eat workout in addition to cardio, plyometrics, balance, stability, mobility, and core. If you ever feel an ache or pain, we always adjust so that you can still stay strong!
Coaches also offer an added layer of accountability (making sure you show up even when you don’t want to), safety (ensuring you perform every exercise with proper form every time), and intelligence (we went to school and got certified in this stuff 😉).
4. Have Fun!
Yes, exercising is hard – it’s supposed to be – BUT that doesn’t mean you can’t have fun😊! Slamming medicine balls into the ground while your new gym friend is cheering you on makes you feel so good, strong and AWESOME! If you like the people you are exercising with, the coaches, the workouts, the gym, etc. etc, you will show up more and notice the shift from feeling like you *have* to exericse to *wanting* to workout!
Setting yourself up fo 2025 success requires you first, prioritize what you want, second, create goals that are supported by specific, action steps and lastly, have access to built in support system.
The #1 most common reason health and fitness goals fail, fizzle and never come to fruition is first, not knowing what to do to and second, accountability –aka not sticking with it.
If you’re the “I don’t need a coach or to go to a gym to exercise” type, I ask you – is that working?
If yes – keep going! If eh, not so much, consider this:
While there is a plethora of workout videos you can follow at home promising abs in 30 days, that doesn’t mean it is a good workout. Videos can’t replace personalized coaching and the sense of community you get at a gym. Finding a coach that can teach you a new skill and ensure you are moving correctly and working all the right muscles will help you to reach your goals faster and safely!
