Before Results Fitness, what was getting in the way of reaching your goal(s)?
It’s no secret I haven’t been as consistent on the nutrition side of my journey as I should be.
Over the past 10 years, I’ve gained and lost the same 10-20 lbs, despite exercising 5-6 days a week, lifitn gheavy weights, dirnking my water – thinking I am doing all the right things!
So, what gives?
I could blame having a kid, getting older and being on the verge of menopause…
But the reality was, I knew what to do and wasn’t being consistent, especially when it came to nutrition.
My biggest struggles are a sweet tooth and difficulty saying “no” in social settings.
During the week, I was making stellar food choices, and consistently meal planning and prepping.
By the weekend, these habits would unravel. I was opting for “pizza party Fridays” followed by a High Noon to wash it down.
I wasn’t worried about what I was eating or how much on the weekends come.
Truthfully, sometimes just not paying attention or giving energy to what I’m eating is just easier.
It got to a point of asking myself “Why I am doing this?”
And, also – why can’t you hire someone to follow you around and hit the food out of your hand?!
What made you decide to do the Results Fitness Nutrition Coaching program?
Honestly, I saw an Instagram post and didn’t like how I looked (how many of us hate to be in pics?).
It was time to be honest with myself and (finally) figure out what works for me!
I started slow by making a few better decisions and getting back to consistent meal prep. I also signd up for RF’s 6-weektransformation program, Rise Up.
I kept my accountability buddies close and vowed to kill my Rise Up 2023 goals!
I followed the Rise Up program 99% during those 6 weeks, including my vacation to Disney World.
In additoin to hitting 5-6 RF workouts each week, I slept 7-8 hours per night, drank all the water, and stuck with eating real foods almost 100% of the time!
A big change for me was giving up the bites, licks and tastes throughout the day – a handful of chips or crackers here, bites off food of my son’s plate there–all those add up to excess calories.
In addition to the workouts, i was more mindful about daily movement outside the gym, especially since I am sedentary at a desk job.
My meeting and work schedule don’t warrant the ability to move during the work day so I had to mindfully plan for and carve out time, usually 30-60 minutes per day, to walk and get steps at the end of the day.
And, yes, though I would have rather spent that time on my phone scrolling and watching TV, using this time differently helped me hit 10k-13k steps each day!
I am proud to share all that time, energy and effort to make better choices one day at a time lead to big time results:
I lost 19 lbs. of fat and gained muscle!
By that point, I had not only hit but exceed my goals and did not want to stop! Realizing my history of losing and gaining those same 10- 20lbs., I did not trust myself to keep on the journey without added accountability, so I signed up for teh Results Fitness Nutrition Coaching program to keep me on track!
What was your biggest fear before signing up for the Results Fitness nutrition coaching program?
My main fear was keeping the train moving in the right direction!
I wanted to see fat loss and maintain or gain muscle, which isn’t easy to do on your own. Life gets in the way, weekends creep up and old habits die hard.
Initially, my intentions where to do a few weeks of coaching but by the end, I did the program for 16!
For me, it was a game changer having access to a coach, being coached, having guidance when the unexpected happened, I was feeling motivated, ot when the scale didn’t budge –which when you have my brain can absolutely be a mind F&#*!!
But, working with and having Coach Amie kept me moving forward, helped my push on and brought awarness to all my non-scale victories.
How is your life different having done the Nutrition Coaching program?
After 4 months of Nutrition Coaching, I am countless inches down, body fat gone (never coming back) and muscle gained!
I eat the same foods all the time because I like them, it works and I need easy choices to keep consistent. I build my meals around protein and veggies always.
I lift heavy when I can, schedule my workouts in advance, continue walking daily, and keep sleep a priority!
And sure, I don’t always want to do all of these things so when motivation tapers, I start small: maybe that’s a quick, 10-minute walk and I tell myself, if I start and don’t want to continue, I’ll just go home.
But guess what? To date, I haven’t turned around yet!
Here’s the humbling part…progress pics!
I hate them!
Loathe them!
It wasn’t until I saw those pictures that it really hit me—everything I’d been doing, from hitting daily steps, tracking portions and eating real foods to drinking plenty of water and lifting heavy weights, was actually paying off!
And the truth hit: only doing one of these things consistently doesn’t work.
I have to do all of the things, most of the time!
Here’s to moving forward, doing all the things and being honest with yourself!
Celebrate the small wins. And one bad day does not derail consistent behavior!
I still love and eat pizza but the rest of pizza day is high protein and veggies and low carbs and fats.
I plan ahead as much as humanly possible.
And yes, I am human and there are days where this is still a struggle. Change is NOT immediate (which is probably the hardest pill to swallow).
My work is never done as these changes take a long time to come to fuirition, but I’m never giving up!
Being held accountable and having a coach who understands me, can relate to my struggles and provides me with solutions I can realisticlly commit to and do, has made all the difference!
I read somewhere that a true fat loss journey goal takes 5 years to achieve (while that may not be accurate or scientifically proven, it’s the mindset I’ve adapted).
I have never been this consistent for this long. It truly is a lifestyle and I grateful for learning the process, having guidance throughout the journey and being part of a community that supports me!
