What was your biggest fear before signing up for Rise Up?
My biggest fears were staying on track and managing proper meals. Plus, fall is my favorite time of year — all the Halloween sweets and treats — and part of me wasn’t sure I could stay away from that temptation!
What made you decide to overcome those fears and RISE UP!?
I decided once and for all that it was time I committed 100% to making changes to creating a healthier lifestyle.
It was time to stop the cycle of doing it/ not doing it and moving past the stuff holding me back. For me, this was about being able to look in the mirror and be proud of who was looking back!
Before Rise Up, what was getting in your way of reaching your goal?
It was a combination of a few things fueled by inconsistencies:
First, I was not being honest with myself. I was setting goals that were out of reach and then not seeing the results becasue of the unrealistic timeframe.
There was also a lack of planing and being prepared. I was not meal planning and prepping in accordance with my schedule, which let to many missed opportunities for a healthier lifestyle.
My meals were not always balanced, and I wasn’t following recommended portions. Meals lacked protein and veggies and at times, I’d skip the carbs and fats altogher
Finally, it was the ‘on again, off again’ rollercoaster: periods of being super consistent with eating health and exercising then falling off the wagon and kick myself for doing so.
It was becoming a vicious cycle of not forgiving myself when that happened and not getting back on track.
How did Rise Up / Results Fitness help you overcome this to succeed?
The coaching, guidance and support was a major influence over the 6 weeks. Every week, my own coach would send a check-in video highlighting the things that were going well plus tips to help make me 1% better and closer to my 6-week goal.
Instead of trying to make big changes all at once, it was a learning and accepting it is “OK” and way more sustainable to take baby steps. Rise Up is about creating habits that you can sustain beyond the 6-weeks. Most other programs are short-sighted with no ‘how to guide’ to keep going.
Along with that, the program teaches you how to set realistic goals and the timeframe to achieve those goals so you’re set up to do well from the start.
How did Rise Up / Results Fitness help you overcome each struggle to succeed?
I learned the proper portion sizes for each macronutrient: protein, veggies, smart carbs and heart healthy fats. This ensures I am giving my body what it needs to feel good and hit my goals!
Tracking meals heled me realized my meals were never balanced and missing the important stuff. I learned how to create a well-balanced meal by always making sure I incorporate a protein, smart carbs, vegetable and healthy fat . Even though Rise Up has ended, I’ve continued tracking to ensure nothing is missed!
In 6 weeks, I lost 16 pounds and 3.5 inches off my waist. More importantly, I lost 11.7 pounds of body fat!
It has been an amazing feeling and there is no going back for me!
I have gained confidence that I can reach any goal plus, now I know how to set realistic goals. Being part of Rise Up and having the coaches’ guidance and support proved to be a tremendous help for keeping me on track!
How is your life different now that you’ve completed Rise Up?
Overall, I have devloped better habits and a healthier mindset that sets me up for success! First, I am more aware of what I am eating, I meal plan and prep a few days in advance and strive to workout at least 5 times per week!
The habits I learned, created and added into my life during Rise Up have remained in tact beyond just the nutrition and exercise stuff, too! Once I started plannng meals in advance, other things started becoming part of the planning process.
For example, prior to bed, I now have everything ready for the following day: workout clothes laid out for the morning, water bottle filled and place in the fridge, work clothes are out, and lunch/snacks are packed.
This has created a better and stress free lifestyle for me!
How is Rise Up different from other programs (exercise/diet/nutrition based) you’ve tried in the past?
It’s not about a fad diet or the next quick fix. It is a program that educates you on the proper nutrition and exercise balance you need to be successful and sustainable.
You also have the support not only from the coaches, but from fellow Rise Up Warriors who cheer you on each step of the way and push you to go that extra step!
What would you say to someone struggling with their health, fitness and nutrition who is looking for help but unsure what to do or where to start?
Take the time for yourself! YOU are important and YOU need to take care of yourself!
