“Rise Up is so motivating that you want to succeed. I think the support from the Results Fitness team and Rise Up Community was the most helpful. It kept you focused and motivated.”
— Former Rise Up Warrior
So, what is the most worthy investment? Answer: Your health!
Before moving on, take a moment to reflect on your initial response. If your own health wasn’t the first thought popping into your head, what’s getting in the way? More importantly, where does your personal health fall on the spectrum of priorities?
There are so many reasons why many of us don’t make time for our own needs; giving proper attention to care for ourselves the way we should. Maybe it’s a demanding career you’ve been working towards your entire life. Perhaps it’s the never-ending chaos of raising a family and maintaining order in your household. Time is precious and as humans, we’re constantly analyzing how we can squeeze the most out of every last hour to accomplish a never ending task list of “to do’s”.
Sure – we all want to look and feel a certain way. We want to feel confident in our “skinny jeans” and have the energy to keep up and play with our kids. But when time is limited, we start taking short cuts in the name of crossing everything off our lists, even when it comes to our health:
- We half-ass a workout by jumping on the treadmill for 20 minutes while scrolling newsfeeds.
- We “cut calories” by eating low-fat foods and eliminating “carbs” because we think carbs make us fat.
- We venture to the local gym and join a sea of people wandering without direction or understanding of what to actually do.
- We make excuses why we can’t eat better or exercise and continue down the same dead-end road.
But short cuts don’t lead to change. Short cuts undermine your effort and at the end of the day, not much is changing in the realm of your health.
Here’s another question: If your time is limited, then don’t you want to be getting the most out of the time you do have to spend on yourself [hopefully you’re nodding in agreement]?
Yet, coincidentally, many of us elect to pay the bare minimum by joining a gym where we’re paying for access to a building and some equipment versus access to people, coaching, meaningful experiences, and sustainable results. Think of it this way – if you’re driving an $80,000 car, when it’s time for an oil change, are you going to opt for the lowest grade oil or the premium? Why?
Your health should be no different. The quality of food you put into your body and the quality of exercise matter. The type of people surrounding you matter. The meaningful experiences that positively impact your mindset and results, matter. Bottom line, YOU and your health are worth the investment. Just like Sarah discovered:
“I wasn’t sure I liked the idea of Rise Up In 6 Weeks (goals, measurements, challenges, progress photos, food tracking) but it also interested me. The idea of weigh-in and body comp testing made me extremely uncomfortable. I just didn’t want to know…
I guess the bottom line is that by the time Rise Up started, I had complete trust that when the RF coaches said, ‘We’ve got your back,’ they meant it. I knew I wasn’t going to be judged for my failures and when you’re not judged for them, you know what? YOU FAIL LESS…you don’t beat yourself up about it, because it’s just a blip on the screen and you move on.
Rise Up was revelatory. Yes— the process, the food tracking, the weekly pictures, the midway body comp testing, all worked. The positivity and support seep from everywhere and from everyone. For me, the goals and numbers and accountability were supported by the caring community that is Results Fitness and THAT is what fixes people, what fixed ME and made the experience so successful.
I developed a ritual during Rise Up that’s quick (and hopefully goes unnoticed,) but it really ties together what Results Fitness is about and what Rise Up has taught me. There are a few seconds when I walk in the door and re-read the ‘Welcome Friend, happy to see your face! Time to be a badass’ quote and those words help clear out the noise I might otherwise bring in with me.
I take another few seconds when I leave Results to take a deep breath and acknowledge the hour or two I’ve just spent on ME before I head back to where life is about everyone but me sometimes (kid, aging parent, spouse, dog.)… I don’t take that time for granted anymore, ever.
You don’t find places like Results Fitness very often in life— this whole process allowed me to rediscover things I like best about myself that I had allowed to slip away in the shuffle of responsibility and life’s vagaries. Take advantage of Results Fitness, and appreciate the crap out of it.
This is by far the BEST money I have spent on myself in years.”
Sarah’s story is one we feel connected to because we’ve all been there: ready to try something new or make a change in the way we look and feel. Subconsciously, we know we’re “worth it” but uncertainty gives us pause. Busy schedules give us pause. Demanding careers give us pause….a million reasons why give us pause.
