BEFORE RESULTS FITNESS
For the past 40 years, exercise has been my mental and physical therapy. I go in with a good attitude and as a mom, rely on that one solid hour to stay focused and get as much done as possible while shutting everything else off.
Before becoming a Results Fitness Warrior, joining a gym was something I’ve always felt OK with but understand why it doesn’t always feel super easy or comfortable for some. Not all studios/gyms are created equal, not all exercise classes produce good results and not all coaches and trainers actually know what they’re doing.
And that is why when it comes to finding the right fit and “gym home”, I can say with absolute certainty doing so comes with one major caveat: if it’s not FUN and I do not feel ENGAGED, I do NOT stay!
Admittedly, getting to the gym is not my biggest hurdle, it’s the staying motivated part as I very much rely on the coaches and other members for this. Most of us can probably relate to how motivation increases when surrounded by others, especially thinking back to the last year and living through a pandemic.
During the pandemic, choices were limited and as you may have experienced, exercising at home just wasn’t the same. Yes, in the beginning it felt “easier” but as time passed, going at it alone became harder. It felt less motivating without your friends and a coach helping you understand what to be doing and how to be doing it.
It was this type of interaction and banter – being around people, working with coaches and just having FUN – I missed most during COVID and the exact thing I was looking for when we moved back to Cleveland at the end of 2020.
“THE WHAT IF’S”
In my 40 years spent trying different types of exercise classes, working with various coaches and trainers, belonging to different gyms / studio, I can say with confidence ALL these experiences shaped what I look for and value most when it comes to gyms, coaches and exercise programs:
-
Quality of instruction and coaching
-
Thoughtfully designed classes/exercise programs
-
(most importantly) Friendly, fun and engaging coaches and team members
Once the move back to Cleveland was complete and we felt somewhat settled, it was time to find my new “gym home”. I took my sister-in-law’s advice and decided to check out Results Fitness.
Of course, all the “what if’s ” barraged my brain:
…Will I get a good workout?
…Will it be too difficult and demanding to the point of feeling excluded?
….What if the other members aren’t inclusive?
…What if the staff and coaches aren’t welcoming?
…What if it’s just down outright lousy?
Well, let me tell ya – Results Fitness was a nice surprise!
In Results Fitness I have found such a welcoming place with THE nicest and most informed coaches. From the moment you walk through the doors it’s “hello, welcome!” followed by introduction after introduction so meeting others is easy and you truly feel part of the community.
Every Small Group Personal Training session comes with the coaching and personalization I need to do each exercise and movement the right way. Coaches Josh and Melanie keep me challenged by increasing my weights as needed and providing different variations for exercises based on my skill level. Plus it is FUN! I usually giggle at least once from something Coaches Josh or Melanie do or say!
And, throughout the pandemic having to deal with restrictions, the Results Fitness team continues to do an amazing job creating limitless workouts with CDC restrictions that few others were able to do. No “ho hum” coming from me; I am excited to be back in a gym, part of a community and surrounded by others who make the adventure FUN and something I look forward to every day!
LIFE AS A RESULTS FITNESS WARRIOR
We’ve all heard and read the stats on eating healthy and exercising regularly but we don’t always do what we should.
Since becoming a Results Fitness Warrior, I am more committed to healthy habits and mindful of everything I do both in and outside the gym. All the stuff that’s equally as important as my workouts- what I eat, my stress levels, my sleep – all impact how I feel and my ability to reach my goals.
Like I said, we know what we SHOULD be eating but that doesn’t always happen. Coach Josh has a great one liner that gets right to the point: “You can’t out train a poor diet”. After my many years of health and fitness, I knew this but… didn’t think it applied to me because I always out ran my diet (eye roll).
Today, more than ever before, I know there is NO such thing!
In addition to the workouts, the coaches share super informative and helpful blogs every week to not only put into perspective what we do, but WHY and how it impacts our daily lives.
And sure, the blog is a few paragraphs long so I usually get a snack while sitting down to read it BUT, the content has up-to-date, relevant information I find very motivating. It helps me make better choices, think more about what I’m doing and the goals I am working towards.
Oddly enough, as luck would have it, the coaches’ blog always seems to come out with crazy, spot-on info I need to hear in that exact moment. I swear to you, anytime there is a nutrition blog, it’s always the day after I’ve raided the pantry! I usually find myself finishing the blog and shutting the pantry door – no reason to wait until tomorrow to “start over”.
All of these pieces, from the educational content in blogs and customized exercise programs, to the knowledgeable coaches, and supportive, fun community makes Results Fitness a comfortable place with a non-aggressive, work-your-ass-off atmosphere.
Non-aggressive work your ass off? Yep! It’s true – trust me!
Only thing stressing are my muscles! I always feel welcomed by everyone and the only judgment is from me to me.
I’m happy because I have a place and people! If you’re struggling with fitness, purpose, life in general – take the one hour to start or end your day here.
