What was your biggest fear before signing up for Rise Up?
My biggest fear was not being able to stay consistent and meet my goal. With my work schedule, it is challenging to make time for the gym but once I signed up for Rise Up, I immediately began planning my workout schedule so that I could remain consistent throughout the 6 week program.
Planning ahead helped me achieve my goal of losing 4% body fat and is now a regular lifestyle habit of mine!
What made you decide to overcome your fear to “Rise Up”?
Discipline! I had my eyes set on achieving greatness and knew I wanted to do well so I pushed through my fears of self-doubt and gave 100% of my best effort!
The Results Fitness community was also an important piece of pushing past my conerns and fears. The support received from Results Fitness coaches, friends and Facebook groups encouraged me to keep going and motivated me to better myself.
Before Rise Up, what were your biggest struggles?
Before Rise up, I did not understand the benefits of a nutritious diet. I was never one to cook meals at home, meal prep or focus on certain food groups. I also struggled with self-discipline, motivation and understanding.
I enjoyed quick meals out and never thought about calories, food groups or portion control. I often committed to easy fixes such as take out or microwavable meals, just because I didn’t ‘have the time’ to prepare myself something more fueling.
Regardless of what I ate, I honestly thought that by working out, I would cancel my poor eating choices.
How did Rise Up / Results Fitness help you overcome this to succeed?
I thank Rise Up and the Results Fitness community for changing my mindset in a positive way and creating a healthier, happier me!
Rise up has helped me prioritize healthy lifestyle habits as well as strengthened my knowledge of nutrition by providing resources, support and communcation to better my future self. I am extremely mindful during the day of what I am eating and how much, aiming for 3 nutritious meals per day.
Rise Up has helped and continues helping me reach new goals both in and outside of the gym because I’ve done the program multiple times.
All of my Rise Up experiences provided new understandings and with that, I can confidently say that I am comfortable creating a home cooked meal, including all food groups and correct portion sizes!
Aside from experience, attending Rise Up based events, reading the Rise Up workbook and blogs and working with my Rise Up Coaches educated me on the importance of the 7 Essential Habits for success!
Before Rise up, the importance of hydration, movement and sleep was never on my radar until Rise Up. The fact that these habits are all connected helped me regulate a better understanding of how to create and sustain a healthy lifestyle.
Most importantly, when it comes to nutriton, I now understand that exercise cannot cancel out poor eating habits.
It was my very first Rise Up program that Coach Amie introduced the quote: “You cannot out train a poor diet.” This quote has stuck with me since my very first Rise up program and compelted reframed my perspective on food – how I fuel my body – and my workouts.
How is your life different now that you’ve completed Rise Up?
My life is quite different after participating in (multiple) Rise Up!
Most recently, I lost 4% body fat, increased my weights during my workouts and became the queen of meal prepping in just 6 weeks!
I now prioritize eating protein, staying hydrated, walking, and strength training on a daily basis. These are all nonegotiables for me now.
I make sure to keep post-it note reminders on my refrigerator as a form of motivation and consistency, and find it is helpful to have friends that are equally as motivated and willing to support you on your journey; whether it be going on a walk or cooking together.
Speaking of cooking, that is something else that has changed for me post Rise up: I enjoy cooking! Who woud have thought?
It is a lot easier than I anticipated.
I look forward to grocery shopping, preparing home cooked meals and meal prepping on Sundays for my week ahead.
Rise up provided me with healthy lifestyle changes, encouraged me out of my comfort zone and improved my mental health.
The struggle is real at times, but we are in control of what we choose to put into our bodies. I am mindful of my choices on a daily basis, but am not afraid to treat myself in moderation.
How is Rise Up different from other programs (exercise/diet/nutrition based) you’ve tried in the past?
I have not tried any other nutrition programs in my past, hence the hesitation when I committed to this program the first time. However, after multiple experiences, I stand by the Rise Up program!
There is so much greatness to accomplish in just 6 weeks. It is one of the best ways to reset your mind and body, and create a better you!
What would you say to someone struggling with their health, fitness and nutrition who is looking for help but unsure what to do or where to start?
To anyone who is struggling with their health and fitness, I would suggest checking out both Results Fitness and the Rise Up program.
Results Fitness continues to help me become stronger by allowing me to (always) feel comfortable during classes. The coaches are supportive and reassuring, creating an environment with room to grow. Rise Up is important if you need/want more direction with nutrition and/or you want to see results.
Results Fitness and Rise Up is the best comvination to help you prioritize strength training and nutrition without feeling lost or overwhelmed. It’s done in a way that feels doable so that you can make it work for you. Once you learn and realize how both these 2 habits go hand in hand, the rest falls into place.
As a Rise Up veteran, I can say that each time I have participated in this program I leave feeling even more confident, happy and successful!
