Before Results Fitness, I rarely participated in any physical activity other than walking, and that’s just because it was a job requirement 😉. My lack of exercise made me nervous and had me questioning whether my body would be able to keep up with the suggested expectations. I finally pulled the trigger in January, 2019 and have never looked back!
My first few months at Results Fitness was about settling into my new workout routine and getting used to the workouts. On average, I was completing 2-3 classes /week. I was feeling better and enjoying both the group classes and RF community. When registration opened for Rise Up In 6 Weeks, I was excited about having that extra push to focus more on exercise and nutrition but was also very worried I wouldn’t lose weight and it may not work.
At that point, I had no confidence in myself or self-discipline. Time was also a huge concern. It was hard enough getting to the gym twice a week, and increasing to four-five times seemed unrealistic for me. I worried it’d all be too much without enough time to get everything done on top of working a full time job as a teacher.
I decided to sign up and do this for myself hopeful the added accountability and coaching would put my fears to rest and make it all worth it. I had a lot of support from my family, friends, RF coaches, text messages, and the Rise Up Facebook group and weekly focus groups. Without these people and conversations, I would not have been able to push myself towards my 6-weel Rise Up goal. It was motivating to hear people sharing their experiences and encouraging me to hold myself accountable for my choices. It was reassuring to hear people offer up similar struggles and suggestions on how to persevere – mind over matter.
My biggest fitness struggle was upper body strength. Results Fitness helped me overcome this by supporting me personally during my trainings and encouraging me to do more. For example, increasing the weights I was lifting or pushing me to do one more rep! These small actions lead to big changes and just not something I’d push myself to do on my own.
Now that I’m an Results Fitness Warrior, I feel like a new person!
I understand the importance of health and physical activity. I am aware of how to portion meals (and what makes up a meal for that matter). I feel confident, strong, self-disciplined, and happy. I know that if I provide a goal for myself, I will achieve it because my mindset has changed, and each day I remind myself mind over matter.
