later, and she’s thriving: no more daily knee pain, moving better, stronger than ever, and actually enjoying her workouts! Here’s how Carolyn went from a double knee replacement
to crushing goals as a Results Fitness Warrior:
Hello Results Fitness fans! My name is Carolyn Banyas, and I’ve been a member of Results Fitness for almost a year. I’m 41 years old, a mom of two (ages eight and five), and at just
39, I had a double knee replacement.
What happened?
Well, I could tell people it’s because of my intense double life as an Olympic fencer who wiped out on a double black diamond during ski trials while chasing my dream of being a winter/summer Olympian. (Okay… I did enjoy fencing and skiing before surgery, but that’s not quite the whole truth.)
In reality, my knees were simply “knock-kneed,” and the cartilage had completely worn away. My surgeon bluntly told me, “You have the knees of a 70-year-old woman.”

Even a year post-surgery, I was still dealing with daily pain. That same warm and fuzzy surgeon looked me in the eye and said, “Join a gym.” So… I did.
Before that, I had never been a gym person. Like, literally never stepped foot in a gym.
I hated the thought of working out, lifting weights and getting sweaty and dreaded the thought of being surrounded by big, muscley gym bros and Instagram perfect models with
cute yoga pants.
But I took the plunge and started looking at local gyms,.
I started with all the big box gyms and then stumbled on the Results Fitness website, filled out their Q&A form, and got a call from Jenna to schedule a free Strategy Session.
Skeptical, I booked it.
One year later? I’m shouting from the rooftops: “I hit a walk-off homerun with Results Fitness!”
I am so glad I didn’t waste my time and get discouraged by going anywhere else first.
At a typical gym, I’d be the person aimlessly scrolling for a playlist, half-heartedly lifting 5 lb. weights, and probably injuring myself by incorrectly dangling upside down in an
exercise machine I don’t know how to use.
Results Fitness is the complete opposite.
I love the accountability of a class format, and the small size means you can’t just hide in the back. You have to show up—but in a good way!
The coaches personalize every workout to your ability level, so you’re never overdoing it or under-challenged.
Most importantly, especially for beginners like myself or anyone with limitations, the coaches modify your workout to fit your needs.
Also, everyone is so kind, warm and supportive and the members come in all shapes, sizes, genders, and ages. It’s a great group of people just trying to get a good workout and feel
their best, minus any judgment or intimidation.
I feel like were all usually laughing or sharing a funny story while were working out too. Results Fitness gives you a serious workout, but is also seriously fun!
I still have good and bad knee days, but overall, I’m improving every month. My strength is up, my energy is higher, and I’m moving faster! Best of all, I’ve found a supportive, motivating community that makes working out something I want to do.
When I see new members—especially those recovering from knee surgeries—I always introduce myself.
I’ve been there: discouraged, in pain, and unsure if I belonged in a gym. But RF meets you where you are and gives you exactly what you need. The coaches modify every workout to
your body and goals, making it safe, effective, and manageable.
If you told me a year ago that I would be going to the gym multiple times a week, having fun and looking forward to my next workout, I would have laughed harder than I do at
some of Coach Josh’s playlists! But now, I can’t imagine life without Results Fitness.
Even on the days when I don’t want to pull myself off the couch and go to class, I am ALWAYS happy I did!
Looking back, joining RF was hands down the best decision I made in 2024. I’m excited to keep progressing in 2025—and hey, maybe I will be that Olympic fencer on skis
someday!
At the very least, I’ll be strong enough to get back to the activities I love. That’s my goal for this year, and I know I can reach it thanks to RF.
