Air Fryer Black Bean Burgers

(makes 4 servings)
  • 1 15-ounce can black beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1/2 cup oat flour
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder (or taco seasoning)
  • 1 tablespoon salsa
  1. In a mixing bowl, mash the black beans with a fork or potato masher until mostly smooth, leaving a few chunks for texture.
  2. Add oat flour, egg, chili powder, and salsa. Stir until well combined — the mixture should hold together but not feel too wet.
  3. Divide into 4 equal portions and shape into patties about ½ inch thick.
  4. Air fry at 375°F (190°C) for 10–12 minutes, flipping halfway through, until firm and slightly crisp on the edges.
  5. Enjoy on a lettuce wrap, whole-grain bun, or over a salad with avocado, tomato, and a squeeze of lime.
